Andrin Paediatric Nasal Drops 10ml is a fast-acting pediatric nasal decongestant containing Xylometazoline Hydrochloride (0.05% w/v) engineered to rapidly relieve blocked nose, reduce sinus swelling, and restore clear breathing in children.

1

Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • Andrin Paediatric Nasal Drops (10ml bottle) provides rapid targeted relief from nasal passage occlusion and upper respiratory mucosal congestion:
  • Selective $\alpha_2$-Adrenergic Receptor Agonism (Xylometazoline HCl 0.05% w/v): Directly stimulates post-synaptic $\alpha$-adrenergic receptors on mucosal blood vessels within the nasal mucosa. This induces localized vasoconstriction, reducing blood flow to swollen nasal tissues.
  • Rapid Decongestion & Airway Clearance: Decreases capillary permeability and edema of the nasal mucosa, shrinking swollen turbinates and opening air passages within minutes to allow effortless breathing.
  • Sinus & Eustachian Drainage Support: Promotes drainage of retained secretions in paranasal sinuses and clears congested Eustachian tubes, preventing secondary sinus or middle-ear infections.

Clinical Indications

  • Andrin Paediatric Nasal Drops 10ml is indicated for:
  • Symptomatic relief of nasal congestion associated with common colds, acute rhinitis, sinusitis, and upper respiratory tract allergies in children
  • Facilitating sinus drainage in acute sinusitis and relieving Eustachian tube congestion associated with otitis media
  • Pre-procedural decongestion of nasal mucosa prior to rhinological examination or procedures

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

  • Have the child gently blow their nose to clear nasal passages prior to use.
  • Tilt the child's head slightly backward.
  • Instill the prescribed number of drops into each nostril, keeping head tilted for a few moments to ensure distribution.

Recommended Dosage:

  • Children 2 to 6 years: 1 to 2 drops into each nostril 1 to 2 times daily (every 8 to 10 hours).
  • Children 6 to 12 years: 2 to 3 drops into each nostril 2 to 3 times daily.
  • Children under 2 years: Strictly as directed by a pediatrician.
  • Maximum Duration: Do not use continuously for more than 3 to 5 consecutive days to prevent rebound congestion (rhinitis medicamentosa).

Precautions & Warnings:

  • For nasal topical use only. Do not exceed the recommended dose or duration of therapy. Use with caution in children with cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, or hyperthyroidism. To prevent the spread of infection, the dropper bottle should only be used by a single child. Store below 25°C in a dry place protected from direct heat and light. Keep out of reach of children.
