Bactisure Chxl Gauze Dressing Sterile 10cm×10cm 10s is a sterile antiseptic paraffin gauze dressing impregnated with 0.5% Chlorhexidine Acetate, designed to protect open wounds against bacterial infection while ensuring gentle, non-adherent dressing changes.

1

Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • Bactisure Chxl Gauze Dressing (10cm×10cm sterile pads, 10-pack) provides active microbicidal protection and non-traumatic primary wound care:
  • Broad-Spectrum Antiseptic Action (Chlorhexidine Acetate 0.5% w/w): Impregnated with chlorhexidine acetate, a proven topical antiseptic that disrupts bacterial cell membranes, causing cytoplasmic leakage and killing a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria (including Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa).
  • Non-Adherent Paraffin Tulle Base: The 10cm×10cm open-weave cotton gauze is saturated with soft white paraffin, forming a non-tacky protective layer over delicate tissue. This prevents the dressing from sticking to the wound bed and minimizes pain and tissue damage during removal.
  • Exudate Management & Permeability: Open leno-weave mesh allows exudate and wound secretions to pass through freely into an absorbent secondary dressing, preventing tissue maceration and promoting a clean, moist healing environment.

Clinical Indications

  • Bactisure Chxl Gauze Dressing Sterile 10cm×10cm 10s is indicated for:
  • Primary topical antiseptic dressing for partial-thickness minor burns, scalds, lacerations, and skin abrasions
  • Infection prophylaxis and tissue protection for skin graft donor and recipient sites
  • Topical wound care for chronic leg ulcers, pressure sores, diabetic foot ulcers, and post-surgical incisions

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

  • Cleanse the wound area with sterile saline and gently dry the surrounding skin. Open the individual sterile foil pouch and remove protective paper sheets using sterile forceps or clean gloved hands. Apply the single 10cm×10cm dressing directly onto the wound bed in a single layer. Cover with an appropriate sterile secondary absorbent pad and secure with medical tape or a retention bandage. Dressing changes typically occur every 1 to 3 days depending on exudate volume.

Precautions & Warnings:

  • For external topical application only. Sterile until opened or damaged. Do not overlap or layer multiple sheets excessively, as dense layering may block exudate drainage into the secondary dressing. Contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to Chlorhexidine or Paraffin. Avoid contact with eyes, middle ear, brain tissue, or meninges. Do not use on severe, full-thickness burns covering over 10% of total body surface area without specialized medical supervision. Store below 25°C in a dry place protected from heat and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
