CASTOR OIL 50ML

Overview & Mechanism of Action

• Castor Oil (50ml bottle) is a versatile botanical oil extracted from the seeds of Ricinus communis, providing dual-action therapeutic benefits for topical dermatological care and short-term gastrointestinal relief:
• Targeted Intestinal Stimulation (Ricinoleic Acid): When ingested, castor oil is hydrolyzed in the small intestine by pancreatic lipases into ricinoleic acid. Ricinoleic acid activates prostanoid receptors on intestinal smooth muscle cells, triggering rapid peristaltic contractions and fluid secretion to promote bowel evacuation.
• Deep Occlusive & Emollient Skin Hydration: High concentration of ricinoleic fatty acids allows deep penetration into the stratum corneum. It functions as a heavy occlusive barrier that seals in epidermal moisture, softens rough or cracked skin, and reduces transepidermal water loss (TEWL).
• Anti-Inflammatory & Antimicrobial Activity: Ricinoleic acid exhibits natural anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and mild antimicrobial properties, calming localized skin redness, soothing irritation, and inhibiting fungal and bacterial overgrowth on the scalp and cutaneous surfaces.
• Follicular Conditioning & Hair Health: Nourishes hair shafts and hair follicles with essential fatty acids and Vitamin E, improving tensile strength, imparting natural shine, and locking in moisture on dry scalps, eyelashes, and eyebrows.

Clinical Indications

• Castor Oil 50ml is indicated for:
• Short-term relief of occasional constipation and bowel preparation prior to radiological or endoscopic procedures (oral route)
• Deep moisturizing and conditioning of dry, chapped, or rough skin, elbows, knees, and cracked heels (topical route)
