Clobederm NN Ointment 15g is a high-potency triple-action topical medication formulated with Clobetasol Propionate, Neomycin, and Nystatin to rapidly reduce severe skin inflammation, swelling, and itching while eliminating co-existing bacterial and fungal infections.

Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • Clobederm NN Ointment (15g) is a specialized, broad-spectrum dermatological preparation engineered for acute skin conditions where severe inflammation is compounded by secondary microbial infections. Its therapeutic efficacy relies on three active agents:
  • Clobetasol Propionate (0.05% w/w): A super-potent (Class I) corticosteroid that acts centrally within cutaneous cells to suppress inflammatory pathways, constrict local microvessels, and quickly relieve intense itching, erythema, and edema.
  • Neomycin Sulfate (0.5% w/w): A broad-spectrum aminoglycoside antibiotic that binds to bacterial 30S ribosomal subunits, inhibiting protein synthesis and eradicating susceptible Gram-positive and Gram-negative skin pathogens.
  • Nystatin (100,000 IU/g): A polyene antifungal agent that selectively binds to ergosterol in fungal cell membranes—specifically targeting Candida species—causing cell membrane disruption and fungal death.
  • Clinical Indications
  • Clobederm NN Ointment is indicated for short-term management of resistant, severe skin disorders complicated or threatened by bacterial or candidal infections, including:
  • Severe, non-responsive eczema and neurodermatitis
  • Recalcitrant psoriasis (excluding widespread plaque psoriasis)
  • Lichen planus and Discoid Lupus Erythematosus (DLE)
  • Severe intertrigo or contact dermatitis with secondary microbial involvement
  • Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions
  • Application: Wash and dry the affected area. Apply a very thin layer only to the inflamed area and gently rub in 1 to 2 times daily as prescribed.
  • Duration: Due to the ultra-high potency of Clobetasol, continuous treatment should strictly not exceed 5 to 7 consecutive days. Clinical reassessment is required if symptoms persist.
  • Precautions: For external topical use only. Strictly avoid contact with the eyes, face, skin folds, or open ulcerative wounds. Do not apply under occlusive dressings or bandages, as this significantly increases systemic corticosteroid absorption. Prolonged usage can cause localized skin atrophy (thinning), striae, telangiectasia, or adrenal suppression.
