Overview & Mechanism of Action

• Gentian Violet Solution (50ml) is an established topical anti-infective liquid containing methylrosaniline chloride, a triarylmethane dye with potent antifungal and bactericidal properties. It acts directly on cutaneous and mucosal pathogens:
• Antifungal Action: Disrupts cell membrane integrity and inhibits essential metabolic pathways in pathogenic fungi, demonstrating high efficacy against Candida albicans and dermatophytes.
• Bactericidal Action: Effectively targets Gram-positive bacteria (including Staphylococcus and Streptococcus species) by impairing bacterial cell wall synthesis and cellular respiration.
• Astringent & Drying Action: Helps dry up weeping skin lesions, blisters, and inflamed mucosal tissues, promoting rapid surface scab formation and tissue healing.

Clinical Indications

• Gentian Violet Solution 50ml is indicated for:
• Treatment of oral thrush (oral candidiasis) in adults and paediatric patients (under medical supervision)
• Management of superficial fungal skin infections, such as cutaneous candidiasis, ringworm (tinea corporis), and athlete's foot (tinea pedis)
• Antiseptic treatment for minor superficial bacterial infections (impetigo) and weeping skin lesions
• Soothing and disinfecting minor cuts, scrapes, and chronic leg ulcers or pressure sores

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

• Administration: For external topical or oral mucosal application only. Clean and dry the affected area. Using a clean cotton swab or applicator, paint a small amount of the solution directly onto the affected lesion 1 to 2 times daily.
• Recommended Dosage: Apply sparingly to affected areas. Avoid applying excessive amounts to sound surrounding tissue.

Precautions & Warnings: Staining Notice: Highly pigment-dense; permanently stains clothing, fabric, teeth, and temporary staining on skin. Do not swallow. Do not apply to deep wounds, extensive burns, or open ulcerative lesions. Prolonged or excessive use on delicate mucous membranes may cause local irritation or tissue ulceration. Avoid contact with eyes.
