Overview & Mechanism of Action
- Ibuprofen Syrup ($100\text{ml}$ bottle of $100\text{mg}/5\text{ml}$ oral suspension) delivers effective anti-inflammatory and antipyretic relief for infants and children:
- Reversible Cyclooxygenase ($\text{COX}$) Inhibition: Inactivates both $\text{COX-1}$ and $\text{COX-2}$ enzymes, blocking the peripheral synthesis of arachidonic acid into pro-inflammatory and pyrogenic prostaglandins ($\text{PGE}_2$).
- Hypothalamic Thermoregulation (Antipyresis): Suppresses elevated $\text{PGE}_2$ concentrations in the preoptic region of the anterior hypothalamus, resetting the central thermostat to lower fever and facilitate cutaneous heat dissipation.
- Peripheral Nociceptive Suppression: Reduces localized tissue edema and inflammatory sensitizing of peripheral pain receptors, relieving acute pediatric aches, teething pressure, and sore throat irritation.
Clinical Indications & Uses
- Ibuprofen Syrup 100ml is indicated for:
- Rapid reduction of elevated body temperature caused by viral or bacterial childhood infections, colds, and flu
- Relief of mild-to-moderate pediatric pain, including teething discomfort, toothaches, earaches, sore throats, and minor sprains
- Symptomatic management of post-immunization pyrexia and localized injection site pain
