Pack: Box 7

Nicotex Nicotine 21mg Transdermal Patches Step 1 (pack of 7) provides 24-hour continuous, controlled nicotine release designed as the initial high-dose step to manage intense tobacco cravings, ease physical withdrawal symptoms, and support the start of a structured quit-smoking journey.

1

Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • Nicotex 21mg Transdermal Patches (Step 1, 7 patches per pack) deliver a continuous, high-potency systemic dose of therapeutic nicotine through the skin to initiate smoking cessation tapering protocols:
  • Controlled Continuous Transdermal Delivery (Nicotine): Absorbs across the cutaneous lipid barrier directly into superficial capillaries over a 24-hour period, establishing stable plasma nicotine concentrations without the extreme arterial spikes and rapid declines triggered by cigarette smoking.
  • Central Receptor Activation & Craving Suppression: Binds selectively to neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors ($\text{nAChRs}$) in the central nervous system, stimulating mesolimbic dopamine pathways to relieve acute irritability, anxiety, restlessness, and difficulty concentrating.
  • First-Line Harm Reduction: Satisfies systemic nicotine dependence without exposing the pulmonary or cardiovascular systems to dangerous tars, carbon monoxide, volatile organic compounds, or carcinogenic combustion products found in tobacco smoke.

Clinical Indications

  • Nicotex Nicotine 21mg Patches (Step 1) is indicated for:
  • Initial starting dose (Step 1) for heavy smokers who smoke 10 to 20 or more cigarettes per day
  • The first 4 to 6 weeks of a structured 3-step transdermal nicotine replacement tapering program
  • Continuous 24-hour management of physical nicotine cravings and acute withdrawal symptoms during active smoking cessation attempts

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

  • Apply one patch daily to a clean, dry, non-hairy, intact area of skin on the upper chest, back, upper arm, or hip. Press firmly with the palm of your hand for 10–20 seconds to ensure complete adhesion. Wear for 24 hours (or 16 hours if sleep disturbances or vivid dreams occur), then remove, fold in half, and apply a fresh patch to a different skin site. Rotate application areas daily; do not reuse the same skin site for at least 7 days.

Recommended Dosage:

  • Step 1 Initial Phase: Wear 1 patch daily (21mg/24 hours) for 4 to 6 weeks before stepping down to Step 2 (14mg patch) for 2 to 4 weeks, followed by Step 3 (7mg patch).

Precautions & Warnings:

  • For external transdermal use only. Do not smoke, chew tobacco, or use other NRT products while wearing the patch unless instructed by a physician. Remove patch prior to MRI procedures to avoid localized skin burns. Contraindicated in individuals with severe generalized skin conditions (e.g., widespread psoriasis, eczema) or recent acute cardiovascular events (such as recent myocardial infarction, severe cardiac arrhythmias, or unstable angina). Exercise caution in patients with uncontrolled hypertension, hyperthyroidism, or severe hepatic impairment. Store below $25^\circ\text{C}$ in original sealed pouches. Keep strictly out of reach of children and pets.
