Overview & Mechanism of Action
- Optive Eye Drops (10ml multi-dose bottle) provides a dual-action therapeutic approach combining surface lubrication with deep cellular osmoprotection:
- Surface Lubrication & Tear Film Stabilization (Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose 0.5%): Forms a protective, high-viscosity hydrocolloid film over the corneal and conjunctival surfaces. This retards tear evaporation, reduces friction during blinking, and maintains tear film integrity.
- Deep Epithelial Osmoprotection (Glycerin 0.9%): Penetrates below the tear film layer into hyperosmotic corneal epithelial cells. It restores normal intracellular volume and hydration, mitigating hyperosmotic stress and protecting delicate ocular surface cells from inflammatory damage.
- Gentle Preservative Technology (Purite 0.01%): Preserved with Purite, a breakdown-sensitive compound that transforms into natural tear components (sodium, chloride, water, and oxygen) upon exposure to ambient light and air, offering the convenience of a multi-dose bottle with low mucosal irritation.
Clinical Indications & Uses
- Optive Eye Drops 10ml is indicated for:
- Relief of burning, stinging, irritation, and foreign-body sensation caused by mild-to-moderate dry eye disease
- Soothing ocular dryness resulting from prolonged digital device usage, air conditioning, wind, smoke, or dry climates
- Daily hydration and protection of the ocular surface following refractive surgery or minor corneal irritation
Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions
Administration:
- Tilt head backward, gently pull down the lower eyelid to create a small pocket, and instil 1 or 2 drops into the affected eye(s). Blink several times to ensure uniform distribution over the cornea.
Recommended Dosage:
- Instill 1 to 2 drops in the affected eye(s) as needed throughout the day, or as specifically advised by an eye care practitioner.
Precautions & Warnings:
- For topical ophthalmic use only. Do not allow the dropper tip to touch the eye, eyelids, fingers, or any surface to maintain sterility. If wearing contact lenses, remove lenses prior to instillation and wait at least 10 to 15 minutes before reinserting, unless otherwise advised by an optometrist. Discontinue use and consult an ophthalmologist if you experience persistent eye pain, changes in vision, severe redness, or symptoms that worsen beyond 72 hours. Store below 25°C. Discard 6 months after first opening. Keep out of reach of children.
