Clinical Indications
- Otrivin Oxy Fast Relief Spray 0.1% 10ml Adult is indicated for:
- Rapid, long-lasting relief of nasal obstruction caused by common cold, acute rhinitis, and upper respiratory tract infections
- Symptomatic treatment of nasal congestion associated with seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis and sinusitis
- Facilitating sinus drainage and clearing Eustachian tube blockages in middle ear congestion (otitis media)
Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions
Administration:
- Gently blow nose prior to application. Remove protective cap, insert spray nozzle into one nostril while holding the bottle upright, and press the spray pump once while inhaling gently through the nose. Repeat in the other nostril. Clean nozzle and replace cap after each use.
Recommended Dosage:
- Adults and Children 12 years and older: Apply 1 spray into each nostril 2 to 3 times daily as needed. Do not exceed 3 applications per nostril within 24 hours.
- Children under 12 years: Contraindicated; use pediatric-strength formulations under medical supervision.
Precautions & Warnings:
- For topical nasal use only; do not spray into eyes or mouth. Do not use continuously for more than 5 to 7 consecutive days; prolonged or excessive use may lead to rebound nasal congestion (rhinitis medicamentosa) and chronic mucosal hypertrophy. Contraindicated in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma, rhinitis sicca, or following transsphenoidal hypophysectomy. Exercise caution in patients with hypertension, ischemic heart disease, hyperthyroidism, or diabetes mellitus. Store below $25^\circ\text{C}$ in a cool, dry place away from direct light.
