Pepsol Capsules 30s is a long-acting proton pump inhibitor (PPI) containing Omeprazole to effectively suppress excessive stomach acid production, promote healing of peptic ulcers, and provide 24-hour relief from frequent heartburn and acid reflux.

1

Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • Pepsol Capsules (30s pack) contain Omeprazole, a potent gastric acid proton pump inhibitor engineered for targeted antisecretory action within the stomach wall:
  • Targeted Proton Pump Inhibition: Irreversibly inhibits the $\text{H}^+/\text{K}^+$-ATPase enzyme system (the "proton pump") located at the secretory surface of gastric parietal cells.
  • Suppression of Acid Secretion: Blocks the final step of gastric acid production, effectively reducing both basal and stimulated gastric acid output regardless of the stimulus (histamine, acetylcholine, or gastrin).
  • Mucosal Healing & Symptom Control: By maintaining an elevated gastric pH over extended periods, it allows inflamed, eroded, or ulcerated esophageal and gastric mucosal tissues to heal rapidly while preventing acid-induced tissue erosion.

Clinical Indications

  • Pepsol Capsules 30s is indicated for:
  • Symptomatic relief and maintenance treatment of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and acid-related heartburn
  • Treatment and secondary prevention of gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers, and NSAID-associated mucosal lesions
  • Healing of erosive esophagitis
  • Eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection in combination with appropriate antimicrobial therapy
  • Long-term management of hypersecretory conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

  • Administration: Swallow capsules whole with a full glass of water, preferably in the morning before breakfast. Do not chew, crush, or open the capsules, as the enteric-coated granules must pass intact through the stomach to be absorbed in the intestine.

Recommended Dosage:

  • Adults & Adolescents: 1 capsule (20mg) taken once daily for 14 to 28 days, or as directed by a healthcare professional.

Precautions & Warnings:

  • Long-term continuous use of PPIs may increase the risk of bone fractures, vitamin B12 deficiency, or hypomagnesemia. Consult a doctor if symptoms persist or worsen after 14 days of continuous treatment. Exclude gastric malignancy before initiating long-term therapy, as treatment may mask underlying symptoms.
