Sara-D3 Drops 15ml is a specialized pediatric Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) liquid formulation engineered for infants and young children to promote optimal calcium absorption, support healthy bone and tooth development, and prevent infantile rickets.

Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • Sara-D3 Drops (15ml dropper bottle) provides a concentrated, palatable liquid presentation of Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3) designed specifically for pediatric administration and rapid systemic absorption:
  • Pediatric Calcium & Phosphate Homeostasis (Cholecalciferol): Vitamin D3 is metabolized in the liver to 25-hydroxyvitamin D and subsequently in the kidneys to active calcitriol ($1,25(\text{OH})_2\text{D}_3$). Active calcitriol binds to intestinal Vitamin D receptors (VDR) to stimulate active transcellular absorption of dietary calcium ($\text{Ca}^{2+}$) and phosphorus ($\text{PO}_4^{3-}$).
  • Skeletal Mineralization & Dental Health: Ensures adequate circulating levels of ionized calcium required for proper osteoblast function, epiphyseal growth plate mineralization, and strong enamel development during rapid growth phases in infancy.
  • Innate Immunity & Cellular Function: Modulates innate antimicrobial peptide synthesis (such as cathelicidin) and immune cell differentiation, supporting early childhood immune resilience.

Clinical Indications

  • Sara-D3 Drops 15ml is indicated for:
  • Prevention and treatment of Vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency in neonates, infants, and toddlers
  • Prophylaxis against nutritional rickets, osteomalacia, and skeletal growth delays
  • Adjunctive dietary support during infant teething, rapid developmental growth spurts, or insufficient sunlight exposure

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

  • Administer orally using the included calibrated dropper. Drops may be administered directly onto the infant’s tongue or mixed into a small amount of expressed breast milk, infant formula, fruit juice, or food.

Recommended Dosage:

  • Infants (0–12 months): Typically 400 IU (as measured via dropper volume) daily, or as prescribed by a pediatrician.
  • Children over 1 year: 400 IU to 600 IU daily, or as advised by a healthcare practitioner based on serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D monitoring.

Precautions & Warnings:

  • For pediatric oral administration under parental supervision or medical guidance. Do not exceed recommended daily dosage to prevent hypervitaminosis D or hypercalcemia. Contraindicated in infants with hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria, or severe renal dysfunction. Store below $25^\circ\text{C}$ in a cool, dry place protected from direct heat and sunlight. Keep bottle tightly capped and out of reach of children
