Uniflora Sachets 10s contains lyophilized Saccharomyces boulardii ($250\text{mg}$), a clinically proven probiotic yeast that restores gut flora balance, neutralizes bacterial enterotoxins, and treats acute and antibiotic-induced diarrhea.

1

Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • Uniflora Sachets ($10\text{-sachet}$ box containing $250\text{mg}$ of lyophilized Saccharomyces boulardii per sachet) delivers targeted biotherapeutic protection across the gastrointestinal tract:
  • Probiotic Yeast Survival & Microflora Protection: Non-pathogenic, non-colonizing biotherapeutic yeast that inherently resists destruction by gastric acid, bile salts, and systemic antibiotics. It temporarily inhabits the intestinal lumen to suppress opportunistic fungal and bacterial overgrowth.
  • Enterotoxin Neutralization & Antisecretory Effect: Produces a $54\text{ kDa}$ protease enzyme that enzymatically inactivates pathogenic bacterial enterotoxins (such as Clostridioides difficile toxins A and B and Vibrio cholerae toxins), preventing toxin binding to intestinal brush-border receptors and halting hypersecretion of fluid and electrolytes.
  • Intestinal Barrier Enhancement & Trophism: Stimulates intestinal mucosal secretion of secretory IgA ($\text{sIgA}$) and increases brush-border disaccharidase activities (lactase, sucrase, maltase), restoring mucosal barrier integrity and improving nutrient and fluid absorption during diarrheal episodes.

Clinical Indications & Uses

  • Uniflora Sachets 10s is indicated for:
  • Symptomatic management of acute non-specific, viral, or bacterial diarrhea in adult and pediatric patients
  • Prevention and co-treatment of antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD) and gastrointestinal flora disruption
  • Secondary prophylaxis against recurrent Clostridioides difficile diarrheal infection alongside standard antibiotic therapy
  • Prevention of traveler's diarrhea and adjunctive relief of gastrointestinal discomfort associated with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

  • Mix the contents of 1 sachet into water, fruit juice, or room-temperature soft food (e.g., yogurt or applesauce). Do not mix with hot ($>50^\circ\text{C}$) or iced liquids/foods or alcoholic beverages, as extreme temperatures destroy live yeast organisms.

Recommended Dosage:

  • Adults and Children: Take 1 to 2 sachets daily (or $250\text{mg}$ to $500\text{mg}$ daily) divided into 1 or 2 doses, or as prescribed by a healthcare professional.

Precautions & Warnings:

  • For oral administration. Contraindicated in critically ill, severely immunocompromised patients, or patients with central venous catheters due to the risk of systemic fungemia. Because Saccharomyces boulardii is a fungal yeast organism, do not co-administer simultaneously with oral systemic antifungal medications (e.g., fluconazole, itraconazole). Store below $25^\circ\text{C}$ in a cool, dry place away from direct heat and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
