Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • Ural-K Oral Solution ($200\text{ml}$ bottle formulated with Potassium Citrate and Citric Acid systemic urinary alkalinizing agents) acts to elevate urinary $\text{pH}$ and increase systemic bicarbonate reserves:
  • Systemic & Urinary Alkalinization: Hepatic oxidation of absorbed citrate ions yields potassium bicarbonate, elevating systemic bicarbonate concentrations and raising urinary $\text{pH}$ to target ranges between $\text{pH } 6.2\text{ and } 7.0$.
  • Inhibition of Crystal Nucleation & Growth: Elevated urinary citrate forms a highly soluble complex with ionic calcium, significantly lowering urinary free calcium ion saturation and suppressing the nucleation, growth, and aggregation of calcium oxalate and uric acid crystals.
  • Symptomatic Relief of Dysuria: Neutralizes acidic urine passing through inflamed bladder and urethral mucosa, rapidly diminishing burning pain, urgency, and discomfort associated with cystitis or hyperuricosuria.

Clinical Indications & Uses

  • Ural-K Oral Solution 200ml is indicated for:
  • Prophylaxis and dissolution of uric acid renal calculi, cysteine stones, and prevention of recurrent calcium oxalate kidney stones
  • Long-term urinary alkalinization for patients managing hyperuricosuria, chronic gouty nephropathy, or renal tubular acidosis ($\text{RTA}$)
  • Symptomatic relief of dysuria and urinary discomfort associated with mild lower urinary tract infections or cystitis

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

  • Dilute the prescribed dose in a full glass of water ($150\text{ml}$ to $200\text{ml}$) or fruit juice. Drink immediately after meals to optimize absorption and minimize gastrointestinal irritation.

Recommended Dosage:

  • Adults: Take $10\text{ml}$ to $15\text{ml}$ (diluted in water) 3 to 4 times daily after meals, or as directed by a physician or urologist.

Precautions & Warnings:

  • For oral administration only after proper dilution. Contraindicated in patients with severe renal failure, hyperkalemia, acute dehydration, severe myocardial damage, or untreated Addison's disease. Use with caution in patients receiving potassium-sparing diuretics (e.g., spironolactone), $\text{ACE}$ inhibitors, or angiotensin receptor blockers ($\text{ARBs}$) due to elevated hyperkalemia risks. Periodically monitor serum electrolytes and urinary $\text{pH}$ during therapy. Store below $25^\circ\text{C}$ in a cool, dry place away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
