Overview & Mechanism of Action

• Urofit Tablets ($10\text{-tablet}$ pack containing Potassium Citrate and Magnesium Citrate systemically targeted urinary alkalinizers) provides dual-action litholytic and crystalline inhibition across the urinary tract:
• Urinary Alkalinization & Citrate Elevation: Following intestinal absorption and hepatic metabolism to bicarbonate, systemic citrate is excreted in urine. This elevates urinary $\text{pH}$ to an optimal range ($\text{pH } 6.2\text{ to } 7.0$), increasing the solubility of uric acid and preventing precipitation into solid calculi.
• Calcium Oxalate & Uric Acid Crystal Inhibition: Citrate ions bind with urinary calcium to form a highly soluble complex, drastically reducing free ionic calcium availability. Simultaneously, Magnesium acts as a competitive inhibitor of calcium oxalate nucleation and crystal growth within renal tubules.
• Symptomatic Micturition Comfort: Moderates acidic urine concentration, calming mucosal hypersensitivity along the urothelium and reducing burning sensations, frequency, and localized bladder urgency.

Clinical Indications & Uses

• Urofit Tablets 10s is indicated for:
• Prevention and medical management of recurrent calcium oxalate, calcium phosphate, and uric acid renal calculi (kidney stones)
• Urinary alkalinization in patients presenting with chronic hyperuricosuria, renal tubular acidosis ($\text{RTA}$), or gouty nephropathy
• Relief of painful or burning urination (dysuria) associated with hyperacidic urine or mild lower urinary tract inflammation

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

• Swallow tablets whole with a full glass of water ($150\text{ml}$ to $200\text{ml}$), preferably within 30 minutes after meals or at bedtime to optimize gastrointestinal tolerance and citrate systemic uptake.

Recommended Dosage:

• Adults: Take 1 to 2 tablets 2 to 3 times daily after meals, or as individually prescribed by a physician or urologist based on urinary $\text{pH}$ monitoring.

Precautions & Warnings:

• For oral administration. Contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment, hyperkalemia, acute dehydration, severe peptic ulceration, or uncontrolled Addison's disease. Use with caution in patients concurrently taking potassium-sparing diuretics, $\text{ACE}$ inhibitors, or angiotensin receptor blockers ($\text{ARBs}$). Maintain adequate daily fluid intake ($2$ to $3\text{ liters}$ daily) to facilitate renal clearance. Store below $25^\circ\text{C}$ in a cool, dry place protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
