Overview & Mechanism of Action

• Varicose Vein Stockings AD Small (knee-high / below-knee compression hosiery designed for small leg circumferences) applies anatomical graduated pressure to support lower extremity vascular function:
• Graduated Hemodynamic Pressure Gradient: Delivers maximum compression at the distal ankle ($100\%$ nominal pressure, typically $20\text{--}30\text{ mmHg}$ Class 2 or $15\text{--}20\text{ mmHg}$ Class 1), which steadily decreases upward toward the proximal calf ($70\%$). This pressure differential counters gravity and restores physiological venous blood flow toward the heart.
• Venous Valve Support & Diameter Reduction: Mechanically constricts superficial, dilated varicose veins, reducing vessel lumen diameter and bringing incompetent venous valves closer together. This restores valvar coaptation, reduces retrograde blood pooling, and lowers venous hypertension.
• Microvascular Fluid & Lymphatic Reabsorption: Increases interstitial tissue pressure, facilitating fluid reabsorption from extracellular spaces back into lymphatic and vascular channels, effectively preventing dependent edema and swelling.

• Reduction of lower leg swelling, heavy leg sensation, throbbing discomfort, and occupational edema caused by prolonged standing or sitting
• Post-procedural support following varicose vein therapies (sclerotherapy, endovenous laser ablation, or vein stripping) and deep vein thrombosis ($\text{DVT}$) prophylaxis

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

• Put on compression stockings first thing in the morning before lower leg swelling develops. Gather the stocking down to the heel, slip the foot in, and gently pull up over the heel and calf to just below the knee without twisting or over-stretching the fabric. Smooth out any wrinkles.

Recommended Sizing:

• Size Small (AD length: Ankle to Below-Knee). Ensure accurate measurement of ankle circumference, calf circumference, and lower leg length prior to selection.

Precautions & Warnings:

• For external lower extremity use only. Contraindicated in patients with severe peripheral arterial disease ($\text{PAD}$ with $\text{ABPI} < 0.5$), decompensated heart failure, severe peripheral neuropathy, or massive leg phlegmasia cerulea dolens. Inspect skin daily for signs of redness, chafing, or circulatory restriction; discontinue use and consult a physician if numbness, skin discoloration, or sharp pain occurs. Hand wash with mild detergent in warm water and air dry away from direct heat to preserve elastomeric fibers.
