Visine Eye Drops 5ml is a fast-acting ocular decongestant containing Tetrahydrozoline Hydrochloride (0.05%) to rapidly constrict swollen conjunctival blood vessels, relieving eye redness and minor irritation within seconds.

1

Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • Visine Eye Drops (5ml multidose bottle containing Tetrahydrozoline Hydrochloride 0.05%) provides rapid targeted relief from ocular redness and environmental eye strain:
  • Alpha-Adrenergic Vasoconstriction: Tetrahydrozoline Hydrochloride (0.05%) functions as an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist on vascular smooth muscle surrounding superficial conjunctival arterioles.
  • Rapid Ocular Redness Reduction: Induces immediate vasoconstriction of dilated conjunctival blood vessels, clearing ocular hyperemia within 60 seconds of application and sustaining redness relief for up to 4 to 8 hours.
  • Soothing Irritation Control: Formulated in a buffered, isotonic vehicle that cleanses and lubricates the corneal surface, helping to flush out environmental micro-irritants such as smog, dust, pollen, smoke, or chlorinated water.

Clinical Indications & Uses

  • Visine Eye Drops 5ml is indicated for:
  • Temporary relief of eye redness (conjunctival hyperemia) caused by minor environmental irritants (smog, wind, dust, smoke, chlorinated pool water) or digital eye strain and fatigue
  • Symptomatic clearing of red eyes associated with mild allergic irritation or lack of sleep
  • Compact, travel-sized ocular decongestant for fast-acting eye brightening on the go

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

  • Wash hands thoroughly before use. Tilt head back, pull down lower eyelid to form a small pocket, and instill 1 or 2 drops into affected eye(s). Close eyes gently for 1 to 2 minutes. Do not touch dropper tip to the eye, eyelid, or any surface to prevent contamination.

Recommended Dosage:

  • Adults and Children 6 years and older: Instill 1 to 2 drops in the affected eye(s) up to 3 or 4 times daily as needed.

Precautions & Warnings:

  • For topical ophthalmic use only. Do not use continuously for more than 72 hours (3 consecutive days), as excessive or prolonged use may cause rebound conjunctival hyperemia (worsening redness). Contraindicated in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma or hypersensitivity to sympathomimetic amines. Remove contact lenses prior to application and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting. Discontinue use and consult an ophthalmologist if eye pain, changes in vision, or persistent redness occurs. Store below 25°C away from heat and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
