Overview & Mechanism of Action

• WaterGuard 150ml ($150\text{ml}$ bottle of stabilized sodium hypochlorite solution, standardized at $1.25\%$ active chlorine concentration) provides point-of-use chemical disinfection for municipal, well, or harvested water supplies:
• Halogen Microbicidal Oxidation: Releases active hypochlorous acid ($\text{HClO}$) upon addition to water. $\text{HClO}$ penetrates micro-organism cell membranes, oxidizing vital metabolic enzymes and nucleic acids to destroy viral, bacterial, and protozoan pathogens.
• Pathogen Inactivation: Rapidly neutralizes major waterborne pathogens—including Vibrio cholerae, Salmonella typhi, Escherichia coli, Shigella species, Rotavirus, and Hepatitis A virus—within a 30-minute contact period.
• Residual Chlorine Protection: Maintains a continuous free residual chlorine level ($0.2\text{ mg/L}$ to $0.5\text{ mg/L}$) in stored household water, safeguarding against secondary microbial re-contamination during storage and handling.

Clinical Indications & Uses

• WaterGuard 150ml is indicated for:
• Point-of-use chemical purification of untreated surface water, shallow well water, rainwater, or unchlorinated tap water for domestic drinking and cooking
• Prevention of waterborne diarrheal disease outbreaks, cholera, typhoid fever, bacillary dysentery, and acute gastroenteritis in community or crisis settings
• Sanitization of domestic water containers, storage tanks, jerrycans, and food-contact utensils during public health interventions

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

• Add 1 capful ($5\text{ml}$) of WaterGuard solution per 20 liters of clear water (use 2 capfuls for turbid or cloudy water). Agitate or stir thoroughly and allow the water to stand undisturbed for at least 30 minutes before consumption or food preparation. If water is heavily turbid, filter through a clean cloth or allow sediment to settle prior to chemical dosing.

Recommended Dosing:

• Clear Water: 1 capful ($5\text{ml}$) per $20\text{L}$ of water.Turbid/Cloudy Water: 2 capfuls ($10\text{ml}$) per $20\text{L}$ of water (after physical filtration).

Precautions & Warnings:

• For water treatment only. Do not swallow undiluted liquid directly. Undiluted sodium hypochlorite causes mucosal burns, severe gastric irritation, and ocular damage. In case of accidental contact with eyes or direct ingestion, flush immediately with copious amounts of clean water and seek medical attention. Store in a cool, dark place with the cap tightly sealed, protected from direct heat and sunlight to maintain active chlorine potency. Keep out of reach of children.
