Overview & Mechanism of Action

• Aerius Tablets 5mg (15s pack) contain desloratadine, a potent, long-acting peripheral H1-receptor antagonist. Engineered to deliver fast-acting, once-daily relief without inducing central nervous system sedation, it works through targeted anti-allergic pathways:
• Selective H1-Receptor Antagonism (Desloratadine 5mg): Competitively inhibits peripheral H1 histamine receptors, effectively blocking the inflammatory cascade triggered by allergen exposure. It quells sneezing, excessive nasal discharge, watery eyes, and palatal itching.
• Anti-Inflammatory Mediator Inhibition: Inhibits the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines (including IL-4, IL-6, IL-8, and IL-13) from mast cells and basophils, suppressing broader allergic inflammatory responses.
• Non-Sedating 24-Hour Formula: Does not readily cross the blood-brain barrier at recommended dosages, allowing full daily allergy control without daytime drowsiness or impaired psychomotor function.

Clinical Indications

• Aerius Tablets 5mg 15s is indicated for:
• Rapid, long-lasting relief of seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and perennial allergic rhinitis
• Management of ocular and nasal allergy symptoms such as sneezing, rhinorrhea (runny nose), nasal itching, and watery/red eyes
• Relief of skin symptoms associated with chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives), including relief of severe itching, redness, and wheal size/number

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

• Administration: Swallow 1 tablet whole with water, with or without food. Do not chew or crush the tablet.

Recommended Dosage:

• Adults & Adolescents over 12 years: 1 tablet (5mg) taken once daily.
• Children under 12 years: Aerius syrup or specialized paediatric dosage forms are recommended.

Precautions & Warnings: Use with caution in patients with severe renal impairment or a history of seizures. Although non-sedating for most individuals, evaluate personal response before driving or operating machinery. Safe during pregnancy and lactation only under explicit medical direction.
