Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • Benylin 4 Flu Liquid (200ml bottle) provides multi-symptom relief from acute influenza and severe cold symptoms through four targeted pharmacological actions:
  • Antipyretic & Analgesic Pain Relief (Paracetamol): Reduces body temperature and alleviates fever, headache, sore throat, and muscle aches by inhibiting central cyclooxygenase (COX) pathways and prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system.
  • Nasal & Sinus Decongestion (Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride): Acts as a sympathomimetic decongestant that stimulates vascular alpha-adrenergic receptors, causing vasoconstriction in swollen nasal mucosal blood vessels to restore clear breathing.
  • Antihistamine & Secretion Reduction (Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride): Blocks $H_1$ histamine receptors to halt allergic responses, dry up runny nose, and suppress continuous sneezing and watery eyes.
  • Cough Suppression & Demulcent Effect: Soothes raw, irritated throat mucosa while suppressing mild dry or tickly cough reflexes associated with upper respiratory viral infections.

Clinical Indications

  • Benylin 4 Flu Liquid 200ml is indicated for:
  • Comprehensive relief of flu symptoms including fever, chills, body aches, sore throat, and headaches
  • Management of nasal congestion, sinus pressure, and blocked airways
  • Controlling rhinorrhea (runny nose), sneezing, and accompanying dry coughs caused by seasonal colds or flu

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

  • Take orally using a calibrated measuring cup or spoon. May be taken with or without food. Shake well before use.

Recommended Dosage:

  • Adults & Adolescents (12 years and older): 20ml (four 5ml spoonfuls) every 4 to 6 hours as needed. Do not exceed 4 doses (80ml) in 24 hours.
  • Children under 12 years: Not recommended.

Precautions & Warnings:

  • Do not take with other paracetamol-containing products or decongestants. May cause drowsiness; do not drive or operate heavy machinery after taking a dose. Avoid alcohol while taking this medication. Contraindicated in individuals with severe hypertension, severe coronary artery disease, or those taking Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs). Store below 25°C in a dry place protected from heat and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
