Benylin Dry Cough Syrup 100ml is a fast-acting oral cough suppressant formulated with Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide and Levomenthol to calm persistent dry, tickly, non-productive coughs and soothe throat irritation.

1

Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • Benylin Dry Cough Syrup (100ml bottle) provides dual-action relief to quiet tickly, non-productive coughs and ease throat soreness:
  • Central Antitussive Suppression (Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide): Acts directly on the medullary cough center in the brainstem to elevate the cough threshold. By suppressing hypersensitive cough reflexes without depressing respiratory center activity, it significantly reduces the frequency and intensity of dry, hacking cough spasms.
  • Soothing Throat Demulcent Action (Levomenthol): Exerts a localized cooling and soothing effect on inflamed pharyngeal nerve endings, dulling throat tickles and reducing the physical urge to cough.
  • Synergistic Mucosal Comfort: The rich syrup base coats raw pharyngeal tissue, providing immediate lubricating relief to sensitive, tickly throat membranes.

Clinical Indications

  • Benylin Dry Cough Syrup 100ml is indicated for:
  • Symptomatic relief of persistent, dry, tickly, non-productive coughs associated with upper respiratory tract infections, common cold, or influenza
  • Calming nocturnal dry cough spasms to promote restful sleep
  • Soothing throat irritation and tickling sensations caused by inhaled irritants or post-viral pharyngeal hypersensitivity
