Clobederm Lotion 20ml is a high-potency topical steroid formulation containing Clobetasol Propionate (0.05%) specifically designed for easy application on the scalp and hair-bearing skin to quickly soothe severe itching, redness, and scaling.

Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • Clobederm Lotion (20ml) is a super-potent, Class I corticosteroid liquid preparation formulated for optimal penetration on hair-bearing areas where traditional creams and heavy ointments are difficult to apply. Its pharmacological action is driven by its core active ingredient:
  • Clobetasol Propionate (0.05% w/w): Operates at the cellular level by binding to glucocorticoid receptors, inducing lipocortin synthesis. Lipocortins inhibit phospholipase A2, blocking the arachidonic acid cascade and suppressing the release of pro-inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes. This results in profound local anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive activity.
  • Clinical Indications
  • Clobederm Lotion 20ml is indicated for the short-term treatment of recalcitrant corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses affecting the scalp and hair-bearing body areas, including:
  • Moderate to Severe Scalp Psoriasis
  • Recalcitrant Scalp Eczema and severe contact dermatitis
  • Severe Seborrheic Dermatitis non-responsive to conventional topical treatments
  • Lichen Planus occurring on hair-bearing skin surfaces
  • Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions
  • Application: Apply a few drops sparingly directly to the affected scalp or skin area morning and evening. Gently massage in until completely absorbed. Wash hands thoroughly after application.
  • Duration: Treatment should be limited to a maximum of 2 consecutive weeks due to its high potency. Total weekly dosage must not exceed 50 ml per week.
  • Precautions: For external topical use on skin and scalp only. Avoid contact with eyes, face, open wounds, or mucosal membranes. Do not apply under occlusive coverings, hair caps, or airtight bandages, as increased systemic absorption elevates the risk of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis suppression, skin thinning (atrophy), and telangiectasia.
