Overview & Mechanism of Action
- Ideos Chewable Tablets (30-tablet pack) provides essential mineral and hormonal cofactors for skeletal tissue mineralization and calcium homeostasis:
- Bone Matrix Mineralization (Calcium Carbonate $1250\text{mg}$ providing $500\text{mg}$ Elemental Calcium): Delivers bioavailable ionized calcium ($\text{Ca}^{2+}$) essential for hydroxyapatite crystal formation within the extracellular bone matrix, maintaining structural skeletal integrity and preventing systemic resorption.
- Intestinal Calcium Absorption (Colecalciferol / Vitamin D3 $400\text{IU}$): Undergoes renal and hepatic hydroxylation to form active calcitriol ($1,25-(\text{OH})_2\text{D}_3$), which upregulates calbindin expression in the intestinal epithelium to increase active calcium absorption and maintain parathyroid hormone ($\text{PTH}$) balance.
- Reduction of Bone Turnover: Synergistically suppresses excess parathyroid hormone secretion, preventing compensatory osteoclast activation and slow structural bone degradation in aging or postmenopausal individuals.
Clinical Indications & Uses
- Ideos 500mg/400IU Chewable Tablets 30s is indicated for:
- Prevention and treatment of calcium and vitamin D deficiencies in high-risk adult and elderly populations
- Adjunctive nutritional therapy alongside standard anti-resorptive medications in osteoporosis management
- Supporting bone mineral density during periods of increased calcium demands or age-related skeletal loss
Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions
