Overview & Mechanism of Action
- Ipical DX Tablets (30-tablet pack containing Calcium Carbonate and Colecalciferol / Vitamin D3) provides essential structural minerals and enzymatic cofactors to preserve bone integrity:
- Skeletal Hydroxyapatite Matrix Integration: Supplies bioavailable elemental calcium to replenish circulating ionized calcium ($\text{Ca}^{2+}$) pools and integrate into the hydroxyapatite crystalline matrix of bone tissue, maintaining structural rigidity and reducing turnover.
- Active Intestinal Transport (Vitamin D3 / Colecalciferol): Hydroxylated in the liver and kidneys into active calcitriol ($1,25-(\text{OH})_2\text{D}_3$), which binds to vitamin D receptors ($\text{VDR}$) in mucosal enterocytes to synthesize calbindin proteins, driving active transcellular calcium uptake.
- Parathyroid Hormone ($\text{PTH}$) Downregulation: Normalizes serum calcium levels, suppressing compensatory parathyroid hormone hypersecretion that triggers osteoclast activation and accelerated bone resorption.
Clinical Indications & Uses
- Ipical DX Tablets 30s is indicated for:
- Prevention and treatment of calcium and Vitamin D deficiency states in adults, elderly individuals, and high-risk populations
- Adjunctive therapy alongside antiresorptive agents in the management of postmenopausal and senile osteoporosis or osteopenia
- Supporting skeletal mineralization during fracture recovery and preventing osteomalacia or dietary calcium insufficiency
Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions
Administration:
- Swallow tablets with a full glass of water, preferably during or immediately after meals to maximize gastric acid-assisted dissolution and absorption.
Recommended Dosage:
- Adults and Elderly: Take 1 to 2 tablets daily, or as advised by a healthcare practitioner.
Precautions & Warnings:
- For oral administration. Contraindicated in hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria, severe renal impairment, nephrolithiasis (kidney stones), or hypervitaminosis D. Co-administration with thiazide diuretics increases the risk of hypercalcemia. Separate administration from bisphosphonates, iron supplements, and tetracycline antibiotics by at least 2 to 3 hours to prevent absorption interference. Store below $25^\circ\text{C}$ in a cool, dry place protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
