Kaluma Inhaler is a portable aromatic nasal decongestant stick formulated with Menthol and Camphor to provide immediate cooling relief, open congested nasal passages, and promote clearer breathing.

1

Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • Kaluma Inhaler is a compact nasal inhalation device containing a volatile essential oil core (featuring Menthol, Camphor, and Eucalyptus Oil) designed for rapid upper respiratory symptom relief:
  • Trigeminal Thermal Receptor Activation ($\text{TRPM8}$): Volatile menthol vapors selectively stimulate cold-sensitive $\text{TRPM8}$ receptors within the nasal mucosa. This induces a distinct cooling sensation that subjectively reduces the perception of airflow resistance and nasal stuffing.
  • Reflex Airway Dilation & Mild Decongestion: Inhaled aromatic vapours produce mild localized mucosal vasoconstriction and reflexively decrease smooth muscle tension in upper airway passages, easing nasal breathing.
  • Mucociliary & Sinus Support: Eucalyptus and camphor vapors help soothe irritated nasal membranes and assist in loosening tenacious mucus secretions caused by head colds or environmental irritants.

Clinical Indications & Uses

  • Kaluma Inhaler is indicated for:
  • Rapid, temporary relief of nasal congestion associated with the common cold, rhinitis, sinusitis, and hay fever
  • Alleviating upper respiratory heaviness, head stuffiness, and sinus discomfort caused by air pollution or dry environments
  • Refreshing breathing and clearing nasal passages during physical activity or seasonal allergies

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

  • Insert the tip of the inhaler stick gently into one nostril while holding the other nostril closed. Inhale deeply through the open nostril. Repeat in the opposite nostril as needed.

Recommended Dosage:

  • Adults and Children over 6 years: Use 1 or 2 inhalations per nostril as needed. Do not exceed recommended frequency of 8 to 10 sessions daily.

Precautions & Warnings:

  • For nasal inhalation only. Strictly contraindicated in infants and young children under 2 to 6 years of age due to the risk of inducing acute laryngospasm or respiratory depression from menthol and camphor. Do not insert deep into the nasal cavity. Hygienic single-person use is recommended to prevent the spread of respiratory infections. Discontinue use if mucosal irritation or hypersensitivity develops. Keep tightly closed when not in use to preserve volatile oils. Store below $25^\circ\text{C}$ in a cool, dry place away from direct heat. Keep out of reach of children.
