Overview & Mechanism of Action

• Toufcof OD Syrup (100ml) is an extended-release oral antitussive and anti-allergic formulation specifically engineered for convenient once-daily or long-acting administration. Designed to manage dry, hacking, and tickly coughs without frequent re-dosing, it acts through targeted central and peripheral mechanisms:
• Central Cough Suppression (Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide): Acts directly on the medullary cough center in the brain to elevate the cough reflex threshold. This rapidly quiets non-productive, repetitive coughing fits without suppressing necessary airway secretions.
• Non-Sedating / Long-Acting Antihistamine Action: Competitively inhibits peripheral H1 histamine receptors to prevent allergic airway hyper-reactivity, stopping nasal itching, throat tickling, sneezing, and excess mucosal drip.
• Soothing Demulcent Base: Coats irritated pharyngeal mucosa to reduce local throat irritation and chest muscle fatigue caused by continuous coughing.
• Clinical Indications
• Toufcof OD Syrup 100ml is indicated for:
• Symptomatic management of dry, non-productive, or tickly coughs associated with upper respiratory viral infections, cold, or flu
• Relief of persistent hacking coughs complicated by seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis
• Calming nocturnal and daytime cough paroxysms to improve rest and daily productivity
• Easing throat irritation, sneezing, and post-nasal drip triggered by airborne environmental allergens
• Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions
• Administration: Shake the bottle thoroughly before each use. Measure the recommended dose accurately using a calibrated measuring cup or spoon. May be taken with or without food.
• Recommended Dosage:
• Adults & Children over 12 years: 10 ml taken once daily (or 5 ml to 10 ml taken twice daily as advised by a physician).
• Children (6–12 years): 5 ml taken once daily (under direct medical guidance).
• Children under 6 years: Not recommended unless specifically prescribed by a healthcare provider.
• Precautions & Warnings: May cause mild dizziness or gastrointestinal upset in sensitive individuals. Do not take concurrently with Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of stopping MAOI therapy. Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment, chronic bronchitis, or asthma. Keep out of reach of children.
