Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • Cachcet 5mg/5ml Syrup (60ml bottle) is a second-generation $H_1$-receptor antagonist engineered to provide effective, long-lasting relief from peripheral allergic symptoms:
  • Selective Peripheral $H_1$-Receptor Antagonism (Cetirizine HCl): Selectively binds to and blocks peripheral histamine $H_1$ receptors on vascular endothelial cells, bronchial smooth muscle, and cutaneous nerve endings. By suppressing endogenous histamine binding, it halts early-phase allergic cascades.
  • Inhibition of Inflammatory Mediator Recruitment: Inhibits late-phase recruitment and activation of eosinophils and inflammatory cells at target tissues, significantly reducing tissue edema, nasal mucosal congestion, and cutaneous redness.
  • Low Central Sedation Profile: Exhibits minimal affinity for central nervous system histamine receptors and low blood-brain barrier permeability, providing targeted antiallergic action with minimal central sedation compared to first-generation antihistamines.

Clinical Indications

  • Cachcet 5mg/5ml Syrup 60ml is indicated for:
  • Rapid relief of nasal and ocular symptoms associated with seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and perennial allergic rhinitis
  • Symptomatic treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives), relieving skin itching, wheals, and erythema
  • Relief of allergic pruritus, eczema-related itching, and allergic conjunctivitis in pediatric and adult patients

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

  • Measure the dose accurately using a calibrated measuring spoon, cup, or oral dosing syringe. May be taken with or without food.

Recommended Dosage:

  • Adults & Children over 12 years: 10ml (10mg) once daily.
  • Children 6 to 12 years: 5ml (5mg) twice daily or 10ml (10mg) once daily.
  • Children 2 to 6 years: 2.5ml (2.5mg) twice daily or 5ml (5mg) once daily.
  • Children under 2 years: Use strictly under direct pediatric supervision.

Precautions & Warnings:

  • Although generally non-sedating, caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery until individual response is determined. Avoid concurrent intake of alcohol or other central nervous system depressants. Dosage adjustments are required in patients with moderate-to-severe renal impairment. Store below 30°C in a dry place protected from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
