Overview & Mechanism of Action

• Calpol Infant Suspension (100ml bottle) is an essential pediatric medicine engineered for safe, easy-to-dose pain and fever management in babies and young children:
• Central Analgesic Action (Paracetamol 120mg/5ml): Inhibits central nervous system prostaglandin synthesis by blocking cyclooxygenase ($COX$) enzymatic pathways in brain tissue. This raises the pain perception threshold to alleviate pediatric discomfort from teething, earaches, and sore throats.
• Hypothalamic Temperature Regulation: Acts on the hypothalamic heat-regulating center to induce peripheral vasodilation and sweating, efficiently dissipating excess body heat to bring down high childhood fevers quickly.
• Child-Friendly Formulation: Formulated as a pleasant-tasting, sugar-free liquid suspension that is easy on young stomach linings and comes with a calibrated syringe or measuring spoon for precise dosing.

Clinical Indications

• Calpol Infant Suspension 100ml is indicated for:
• Reduction of fever, including post-immunization pyrexia following childhood vaccinations
• Fast relief of mild to moderate pain associated with teething, toothaches, earaches, sore throats, headache, and minor muscular aches
• Symptomatic relief of discomfort associated with common viral infections, colds, and influenza in early childhood

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

• Shake the bottle thoroughly for at least 10 seconds before each use. Always use the double-ended measuring spoon or oral syringe provided with the pack to ensure accurate dosing.

Recommended Dosage:

• Post-Immunization Fever (Infants 2–4 months): One 2.5ml dose. A second 2.5ml dose may be given 4 to 6 hours later if needed.
• Infants 2–3 months (weighing over 4kg, born after 37 weeks): One 2.5ml dose. If necessary, a second 2.5ml dose after 4 to 6 hours.
• Infants 3–6 months: 2.5ml every 4 to 6 hours as needed (maximum 4 doses in 24 hours).
• Infants 6–24 months: 5ml every 4 to 6 hours as needed (maximum 4 doses in 24 hours).Children 2–4 years: 7.5ml (5ml + 2.5ml) every 4 to 6 hours as needed (maximum 4 doses in 24 hours).
• Children 4–6 years: 10ml (5ml + 5ml) every 4 to 6 hours as needed (maximum 4 doses in 24 hours)

Precautions & Warnings:

• For oral pediatric use only. Do not exceed 4 doses in any 24-hour period. Leave at least 4 hours between consecutive doses. Severe Liver Injury Hazard: Never give this product alongside any other paracetamol-containing medications to avoid severe hepatotoxicity. If symptoms persist for more than 3 days, or if fever does not resolve after 2 doses in infants under 3 months, consult a doctor immediately. Store below $25^\circ\text{C}$ in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of sight and reach of children.
