Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • Coscof DM Linctus (100ml bottle) provides targeted relief for dry, non-productive coughs and allergy-driven respiratory discomfort:Central Cough Reflex Suppression (Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide): Acts directly on the cough center in the medulla oblongata of the brain to elevate the cough threshold. It effectively dampens non-productive, hacking cough spasms without suppressing normal mucociliary clearance or causing respiratory depression.
  • Antihistamine & Allergy Relief (Chlorpheniramine Maleate): Competitively blocks peripheral $H_1$ histamine receptors, preventing histamine-mediated allergic reactions such as sneezing, watery eyes, rhinorrhea (runny nose), and localized throat itching.
  • Demulcent Throat Soothing Vehicle: Formulated as a viscous, pleasant-tasting linctus base that coats inflamed pharyngeal tissues, offering immediate mechanical soothing relief to raw throat membranes and reducing the frequency of cough-triggering tickles.

Clinical Indications

  • Coscof DM Linctus 100ml is indicated for:
  • Symptomatic treatment of dry, tickly, and non-productive coughs caused by upper respiratory tract infections, colds, or environmental irritants
  • Relief of allergy-induced coughs and associated symptoms including sneezing, post-nasal drip, and nasal allergy discomfort
  • Suppressing night-time hacking coughs to improve rest and sleep quality

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

  • Take orally using a precise measuring cup or spoon. May be taken with or without food.

Recommended Dosage:

  • Adults & Adolescents over 12 years: 5ml to 10ml three to four times daily as needed.
  • Children 6 to 12 years: 2.5ml to 5ml three to four times daily.
  • Children under 6 years: Strictly as directed by a pediatrician.

Precautions & Warnings:

  • May cause mild drowsiness or dizziness; avoid driving or operating heavy machinery after taking a dose. Do not take concurrently with Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) or Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) due to the risk of serotonin syndrome. Not recommended for chronic coughs associated with asthma, emphysema, or excessive phlegm production unless directed by a physician. Store below 25°C in a dry place protected from direct heat and light. Keep out of reach of children.
