Overview & Mechanism of Action

• Dacof Dry Cough Syrup (100ml bottle) combines active antitussive, antihistaminic, and soothing demulcent agents engineered to quiet dry, tickly, and non-productive coughs:
• Central Antitussive Cough Suppression (Dextromethorphan HBr): Acts directly on the cough center in the medulla oblongata to elevate the cough reflex threshold, effectively inhibiting non-productive coughing spasms without depressing respiratory drive at standard therapeutic doses.
• Antihistaminic & Sedative Effect (Diphenhydramine HCl): Competitively blocks peripheral $\text{H}_1$-histamine receptors to attenuate throat irritation, reduce allergic post-nasal drip, and calm nighttime coughing fits to promote restorative rest.
• Demulcent & Soothing Mucosal Coating (Menthol & Glycerin): Coats and soothes hypersensitive, inflamed pharyngeal tissues, providing immediate cooling comfort that blunts the throat tickle triggering cough spasms.

Clinical Indications

• Dacof Dry Cough Syrup 100ml is indicated for:
• Symptomatic control of acute, dry, tickly, non-productive coughs arising from common colds, influenza, or environmental irritants
• Calming persistent, hacking nighttime coughs that disrupt sleep
• Soothing throat tickle, pharyngeal dryness, and airway irritation following viral upper respiratory infections

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

• Shake the bottle thoroughly before each dose. Measure accurately using a calibrated measuring cup or spoon.

Recommended Dosage:

• Adults and Adolescents over 12 years: 5ml to 10ml every 4 to 6 hours as needed. Do not exceed 40ml in a 24-hour period.Children 6–12 years: 2.5ml to 5ml every 4 to 6 hours as needed.Children under 6 years: Consult a healthcare professional prior to use.

Precautions & Warnings:

• For oral administration only. May cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision; do not drive, operate heavy machinery, or engage in hazardous tasks following administration. Contraindicated in patients taking Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of discontinuing MAOI therapy due to the risk of serotonin syndrome. Avoid concurrent alcohol consumption or central nervous system depressants. Consult a physician if cough persists longer than 7 days, recurs, or is accompanied by high fever, rash, or persistent headache.
