Overview & Mechanism of Action

• Flugone DM Syrup (60ml bottle) provides targeted, multi-pathway relief for non-productive upper respiratory coughs accompanied by congestion and allergic rhinitis symptoms:
• Central Cough Reflex Suppression (Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide): Acts directly on the medullary cough center in the brainstem to raise the cough threshold. It suppresses frequent, irritating, non-productive dry coughs without causing central respiratory depression at recommended doses.
• Sympathomimetic Nasal Decongestion (Phenylephrine Hydrochloride): Functions as a selective $\alpha_1$-adrenergic receptor agonist that constricts dilated vascular smooth muscle in the nasal mucosa, reducing tissue edema, swelling, and sinus airway obstruction.
• Antihistamine & Secretion Control (Chlorpheniramine Maleate): Competitively blocks peripheral $H_1$ histamine receptors, halting histamine-induced capillary permeability. This action stops rhinorrhea (runny nose), dries up excessive mucus secretion, and suppresses sneezing and watery eyes.

Clinical Indications

• Flugone DM Syrup 60ml is indicated for:
• Temporary relief of dry, tickly, non-productive coughs associated with minor throat or bronchial irritation from common colds, influenza, or inhaled irritants
• Management of nasal congestion, sinus pressure, and blocked airways caused by viral upper respiratory infections or allergic rhinitis
• Soothing continuous sneezing, runny nose, and itchy, watery eyes

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

• Shake the bottle well before each dose. Measure accurately using a calibrated measuring spoon or cup. May be taken with or without food.

Recommended Dosage:

• Adults & Adolescents (12 years and older): 10ml every 6 to 8 hours as needed. Do not exceed 40ml in a 24-hour period.
• Children 6 to 11 years: 5ml every 6 to 8 hours as needed. Do not exceed 20ml in a 24-hour period.
• Children under 6 years: Not recommended unless specifically prescribed by a pediatrician.

Precautions & Warnings:

• May cause drowsiness or mild dizziness; avoid driving, operating machinery, or consuming alcohol while taking this medication. Contraindicated in patients taking Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) or Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) due to the risk of serotonin syndrome or severe hypertensive crisis. Use with caution in individuals with hypertension, heart disease, hyperthyroidism, glaucoma, or urinary retention. Store below 25°C in a dry place protected from direct light and heat. Keep out of reach of children.
