Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • Flugone-P Syrup (120ml bottle) offers comprehensive multi-symptom relief from acute upper respiratory tract infections, cold, and flu symptoms through three complementary active agents:
  • Antipyretic & Analgesic Pain Relief (Paracetamol / Acetaminophen): Inhibits central cyclooxygenase (COX) pathways within the central nervous system to decrease prostaglandin synthesis. It acts on the hypothalamic thermoregulatory center to dissipate heat and lower fever while relieving generalized aches, sore throat, and headaches.
  • Nasal Decongestion & Airway Relief (Phenylephrine Hydrochloride): Functions as a selective $\alpha_1$-adrenergic receptor agonist that induces vasoconstriction in swollen nasal mucosal blood vessels. This reduces tissue edema, opens blocked nasal passages, and eases sinus pressure.
  • Antihistamine & Allergy Suppression (Chlorpheniramine Maleate): Blocks peripheral $H_1$ histamine receptors, preventing allergic responses such as continuous sneezing, watery eyes, rhinorrhea (runny nose), and localized throat itching.

Clinical Indications

  • Flugone-P Syrup 120ml is indicated for:
  • Comprehensive relief of cold and flu symptoms, including fever, headache, body aches, sore throat, and nasal obstruction
  • Management of seasonal allergic rhinitis, acute rhinosinusitis, and upper respiratory tract congestion
  • Reducing fever, runny nose, and sneezing associated with viral upper respiratory tract infections

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

  • Take orally using an accurate measuring cup or spoon. May be taken with or without food. Shake the bottle well before each use.

Recommended Dosage:

  • Adults & Adolescents over 12 years: 10ml to 15ml three to four times daily as needed.
  • Children 6 to 12 years: 5ml to 7.5ml three to four times daily.
  • Children 2 to 6 years: 2.5ml to 5ml three to four times daily, or strictly as directed by a physician.
  • Maximum Limit: Do not exceed 4 doses in any 24-hour period.

Precautions & Warnings:

  • Do not combine with other paracetamol-containing products, decongestants, or OTC cold remedies to avoid risk of accidental overdose and liver toxicity. May cause drowsiness or lightheadedness; avoid driving or operating machinery after taking a dose. Use with caution in individuals with hypertension, cardiovascular disease, hyperthyroidism, glaucoma, or severe renal/hepatic impairment.
