Overview & Mechanism of Action

• Perfamol blister pack containing of Paracetamol per tablet) acts centrally to provide effective pain relief and fever control:
• Central Prostaglandin Inhibition: Inhibits cyclooxygenase enzymes predominantly within the central nervous system , suppressing central prostaglandin synthesis to elevate the systemic pain threshold.
• Hypothalamic Thermoregulation: Acts directly on the hypothalamic heat-regulating center to promote peripheral vasodilation and sweating, facilitating rapid body heat dissipation to lower elevated core body temperatures.
• Rapid Bioavailability & Gastric Tolerance: Disintegrates quickly for prompt gastrointestinal absorption and rapid therapeutic onset. Unlike non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, paracetamol does not inhibit peripheral gastric mucosal prostaglandins, minimizing stomach irritation or ulcer risk.

Clinical Indications & Uses

• Perfamol (Paracetamol) ET 500mg Tablets 16s is indicated for:
• Rapid relief of mild to moderate acute pain, including tension headaches, migraines, toothaches, backaches, dysmenorrhea (period pain), and osteoarthritis discomfort
• Reduction of fever (pyrexia) associated with viral upper respiratory tract infections, influenza, and post-vaccination febrile reactions
• First-line analgesic support for patients with gastrointestinal sensitivity or contraindications to NSAIDs (e.g., aspirin, ibuprofen)

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

• Swallow tablets whole with water. May be taken with or without food.

Recommended Dosage:

• Adults & Adolescents (>12 years): 1 to 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours as needed. Do not exceed 8 tablets in any 24-hour period.
• Children (6–11 years): to 1 tablet every 4 to 6 hours as needed. Do not exceed 4 tablets in 24 hours.

Precautions & Warnings:

• For oral administration only. LIVER WARNING: Do not exceed the maximum recommended daily dose, as severe or fatal hepatic damage may occur. Avoid concurrent use with other medications containing paracetamol/acetaminophen. Use with caution in individuals with chronic alcohol dependence, severe renal or hepatic impairment, or chronic malnutrition. Store below 25 degrees celcius in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
