Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • Toufcof Dry Syrup (100ml) is an oral antitussive and anti-allergic combination syrup specially formulated to manage non-productive, tickly, or hacking coughs. It acts on both the central nervous system and peripheral histamine pathways to provide comprehensive cough and allergy relief:
  • Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide: A non-opioid central cough suppressant that acts directly on the cough center in the brain, raising the cough reflex threshold to quiet persistent, non-productive coughing fits.
  • Chlorpheniramine Maleate: A histamine H1-receptor antagonist that blocks peripheral histamine activity. It stops allergic reactions, reducing nasal discharge (runny nose), sneezing, watery eyes, and localized throat tickle.
  • Soothes Airway Tickle: Relieves constant pharyngeal irritation, allowing fatigued vocal cords and chest muscles to rest and promoting restful, unbroken sleep.
  • Clinical Indications
  • Toufcof Dry 100ml is indicated for:
  • Symptomatic relief of dry, tickly, non-productive coughs associated with upper respiratory viral infections, cold, or flu
  • Managing dry cough complicated by seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis
  • Calming persistent nighttime coughing to improve sleep quality
  • Reducing throat tickling, sneezing, watery eyes, and runny nose caused by environmental allergens
  • Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions
  • Administration: Shake the bottle well before use. Measure the precise dose using a calibrated measuring cup or spoon. May be taken with or without food.
  • Recommended Dosage:
  • Adults & Children over 12 years: 5 ml to 10 ml taken 3 to 4 times daily as needed.
  • Children (6–12 years): 2.5 ml to 5 ml taken 3 to 4 times daily (under medical supervision).
  • Children under 6 years: Not recommended unless specifically prescribed by a physician.
  • Precautions & Warnings: May cause mild drowsiness, dizziness, or dry mouth. Avoid driving, operating heavy machinery, or consuming alcohol while taking this syrup. Do not take concurrently with Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of stopping MAOI therapy. Use with caution in patients with asthma, chronic bronchitis, glaucoma, or urinary retention.
