Tuspel Cough Syrup 60ml is a fast-acting, multi-action cough and cold liquid containing Diphenhydramine, Ammonium Chloride, Sodium Citrate, and Menthol, formulated to suppress persistent coughing, liquefy thick mucus, and soothe tickling throat irritation.

1

Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • Tuspel Cough Syrup (60ml oral solution) combines antihistaminic, cough-suppressant, expectorant, and soothing agents to provide comprehensive upper respiratory relief:
  • Central Cough Reflex Suppression & Antihistaminic Action (Diphenhydramine HCl): Selectively blocks peripheral $H_1$-histamine receptors to control allergic responses (sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes) while acting on the brainstem's cough center to reduce the frequency and intensity of coughing fits.
  • Expectorant & Mucus Secretolysis (Ammonium Chloride & Sodium Citrate): Ammonium chloride irritates the gastric mucosa reflexively to stimulate bronchial gland secretion, reducing phlegm viscosity. Sodium citrate acts as a mucolytic agent to liquefy sticky bronchial secretions for easy expulsion.
  • Cooling & Local Anesthetic Effect (Menthol): Stimulates TRPM8 cold receptors in respiratory air passages, providing immediate cooling comfort, soothing raw throat tissue, and relieving tickling coughing triggers.

Clinical Indications

  • Tuspel Cough Syrup 60ml is indicated for:
  • Symptomatic relief of coughs associated with common cold, upper respiratory tract infections, and mild bronchitis
  • Management of allergic coughs, post-nasal drip, and tickling throat irritation
  • Thinning and loosening of stubborn, viscous phlegm in congested bronchial passages
