Upacof Paediatric Syrup 100ml is a specially formulated, fast-acting cough and cold liquid containing Diphenhydramine, Ammonium Chloride, Sodium Citrate, and Menthol, engineered to suppress persistent coughing, loosen mucus, and soothe throat irritation in children.

1

Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • Upacof Paediatric Syrup (100ml oral solution) combines antihistaminic, cough-suppressant, expectorant, and soothing agents tailored for pediatric respiratory relief:
  • Central Cough Suppression & Antihistaminic Action (Diphenhydramine HCl): Blocks peripheral $H_1$-histamine receptors to curb allergic manifestations (sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes) while acting on the cough center to decrease the frequency and severity of cough fits.
  • Expectorant & Mucus Secretolysis (Ammonium Chloride & Sodium Citrate): Ammonium chloride stimulates bronchial gland secretion via gastric reflex to reduce phlegm viscosity. Sodium citrate acts as a mucolytic agent, liquefying sticky bronchial secretions for easier expulsion.
  • Cooling & Local Anesthetic Effect (Menthol): Stimulates TRPM8 cold receptors in respiratory passages, delivering an immediate cooling effect that soothes inflamed throat tissue and reduces tickling cough triggers.

Clinical Indications & Uses

  • Upacof Paediatric Syrup 100ml is indicated for:
  • Symptomatic relief of coughs associated with common cold, upper respiratory tract infections, and mild bronchitis in children
  • Management of allergic coughs, post-nasal drip, and tickling throat irritation
  • Thinning and loosening of stubborn, viscous phlegm in pediatric airways
