Overview & Mechanism of Action
- Almax Forte Sachets 30s contains Almagate, an hydrated aluminum-magnesium hydroxycarbonate complex designed for fast-acting and sustained neutralization of stomach acid. Delivered in ready-to-use liquid sachets, it acts through multiple protective pathways:
- Fast-Acting Acid Neutralization (Almagate 1.5g): Rapidly neutralizes excess gastric hydrochloric acid ($\text{HCl}$), bringing stomach pH to an optimal therapeutic range (pH 3–5) within minutes. This stops gastric irritation without over-alkalinizing the stomach or triggering secondary acid rebound.
- Bile Acid & Pepsin Inactivation: Binds active pepsin and harmful bile salts present in gastric fluid, preventing mucosal breakdown and reflux damage to esophageal tissues.
- Mucosal Protection & On-the-Go Convenience: Forms a soothing protective layer over hyperemic esophageal and gastric mucosal walls. The single-dose sachet format allows easy, mess-free administration anywhere without needing water.
Clinical Indications
- Almax Forte Sachets 30s is indicated for:
- Rapid relief of acute heartburn, acid indigestion, and burning epigastric discomfort
- Symptomatic management of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and reflux esophagitis
- Relief of gastric pain associated with acute and chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, and gastric erosions
- Neutralization of bile acid reflux following biliary surgery or in functional non-ulcer dyspepsia
Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions
- Administration: Tear open the sachet and take the liquid suspension directly into the mouth, or pour into a glass if preferred. Can be taken directly without water.
Recommended Dosage:
- Adults & Children over 12 years: 1 sachet (1.5g Almagate) taken 3 to 4 times daily, preferably 30 to 60 minutes after meals and before bedtime, or at the onset of symptoms.
- Children under 12 years: Not recommended unless under direct medical advice.
Precautions & Warnings: Do not exceed 8 sachets (12g Almagate) within a 24-hour period. Do not use continuously for more than 14 consecutive days without consulting a physician. Use with caution in individuals with severe renal impairment due to risk of accumulation of aluminum or magnesium ions. Separate administration from other oral drugs (such as tetracyclines, quinolones, and iron supplements) by at least 2 hours, as antacids reduce their absorption.
