Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • CHX Antiseptic Mouthwash (200ml bottle, Mint Flavor) provides potent, broad-spectrum antimicrobial action for comprehensive periodontal and oral mucosal care:
  • Broad-Spectrum Bactericidal Action (Chlorhexidine Gluconate 0.2%): Positively charged chlorhexidine molecules bind to negatively charged bacterial cell walls, disrupting cell membrane integrity and causing leakage of essential intracellular components. Effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, yeasts, and certain viruses.
  • Substantivity & Extended Plaque Inhibition: Binds reversibly to oral hydroxyapatite surfaces, salivary proteins, and oral mucosa, releasing slowly over 8 to 12 hours. This sustained anti-plaque effect prevents bacterial recolonization and plaque matrix formation.
  • Gingival Healing & Inflammation Control: Reduces gingival redness, swelling, and bleeding by controlling the bacterial load responsible for triggering localized inflammation in periodontal pockets.

Clinical Indications

  • CHX Antiseptic Mouthwash Mint 200ml is indicated for:
  • Treatment and management of acute and chronic gingivitis, bleeding gums, and early periodontitis
  • Infection prophylaxis and oral hygiene maintenance following dental extractions, periodontal surgery, or maxillofacial trauma
  • Symptomatic management of painful mouth ulcers (aphthous stomatitis) and oral thrush (candidiasis)
  • Plaque control in patients unable to perform adequate mechanical tooth brushing

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

  • Rinse the mouth thoroughly with 10ml to 15ml of undiluted mouthwash for 1 minute twice daily (morning and evening after brushing), then spit out. Do not swallow.

Recommended Dosage:

  • Adults & Children over 12 years: 10ml to 15ml twice daily for up to 2 weeks, or as directed by a dentist or oral surgeon.
  • Children under 12 years: Use only upon professional dental advice.

Precautions & Warnings:

  • For oral topical use only; do not swallow. Wait at least 30 minutes between tooth brushing and using CHX mouthwash, as anionic surfactants in standard toothpastes can deactivate chlorhexidine. Prolonged continuous use (over 2 weeks) may cause temporary brownish tooth staining or temporary taste alteration, which are reversible upon discontinuation or professional cleaning. Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
