Gastid Oral Suspension 200ml is a fast-acting antacid and antiflatulent formula combining Aluminium Hydroxide, Magnesium Hydroxide, and Simethicone to rapidly neutralize excess stomach acid, protect the gastric mucosal lining, and relieve heartburn, indigestion, and trapped gas.

Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • Gastid Oral Suspension (200ml bottle) provides triple-action symptomatic relief from upper gastrointestinal hyperacidity and gas accumulation:
  • Rapid & Sustained Acid Neutralization (Aluminium & Magnesium Hydroxides): Reacts chemically with gastric hydrochloric acid ($HCl$) to raise intragastric pH, suppressing pepsin activity and soothing irritated gastric mucosa. Combining aluminium hydroxide (mildly constipating) with magnesium hydroxide (mildly laxative) maintains balanced bowel motility.
  • Defoaming & Anti-Gas Action (Simethicone): Acts as a surfactant that lowers the surface tension of gas bubbles trapped within the stomach and intestines. This causes small foam bubbles to coalesce into larger free gas bubbles, enabling easier clearance via belching or flatus.
  • Mucosal Protection: Forms a protective, soothing layer over inflamed gastric mucosa and ulcer sites, shielding vulnerable tissues from ongoing acid-peptic erosion.

Clinical Indications

  • Gastid Oral Suspension 200ml is indicated for:
  • Rapid relief from heartburn, acid indigestion, and sour stomach
  • Symptomatic management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and acute or chronic gastritis
  • Adjuvant management of pain and discomfort associated with gastric and duodenal peptic ulcers
  • Relief of abdominal distension, bloating, and gas pain (flatulence)

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

  • Shake the bottle thoroughly before each use. Take orally between meals and at bedtime, or as needed upon onset of symptoms.

Recommended Dosage:

  • Adults & Children over 12 years: 5ml to 10ml (1 to 2 teaspoonfuls) 3 to 4 times daily, 20 to 60 minutes after meals and at bedtime.Children under 12 years: Use only under direct medical supervision.

Precautions & Warnings:

  • Do not exceed the maximum daily dose. Avoid prolonged or high-dose use in patients with severe renal impairment due to the risk of aluminium or magnesium systemic accumulation. Antacids may interfere with the absorption of other medications (e.g., tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, iron supplements); space other oral drugs at least 2 hours apart from Gastid. Store below 30°C in a dry place. Keep bottle tightly closed and protect from freezing. Keep out of reach of children.
