Overview & Mechanism of Action

• Gaviscon Double Action Mint Chewable Tablets (pack of 32 tablets) combines dual therapeutic mechanisms to address both hyperacidity and mechanical acid reflux:
• Alginate Raft Formation (Sodium Alginate): Reacts with gastric acid to form a resilient, low-density gel (raft) of alginic acid that floats on top of stomach contents. This physical barrier prevents acidic gastric juice from refluxing up into the esophagus during esophageal sphincter relaxation.
• Dual Antacid Acid Neutralization (Calcium Carbonate & Sodium Bicarbonate): Reacts rapidly with hydrochloric acid in the gastric lumen to buffer excess stomach acid, raising intragastric and providing fast relief from burning chest pain and epigastric discomfort.
• Dual Protection Against Pepsin & Bile: The structural raft sequesters pepsin and bile acids, protecting esophageal mucosal tissue from enzymatic digestion and chemical erosion.

Clinical Indications

• Gaviscon Double Action Mint Tabs 32s is indicated for:
• Symptomatic relief of heartburn and acid regurgitation associated with gastroesophageal reflux (GERD)
• Management of acid indigestion, hyperacidity, and burning sensation in the chest or stomach following meals or during pregnancy
• Dyspeptic symptoms resulting from hiatal hernia, reflux esophagitis, or dietary triggers

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

• Thoroughly chew tablets before swallowing. Do not swallow whole. Take after main meals and before bedtime, or as directed by a physician.

Recommended Dosage:

• Adults and Children 12 years and over: Chew 2 to 4 tablets after meals and at bedtime (up to 4 times daily).
• Children under 12 years: Administer only on medical advice.

Precautions & Warnings:

• For oral chewable use only. Contains sodium and calcium; exercise caution in patients requiring strict sodium restriction (e.g., congestive heart failure, renal impairment) or those with hypercalcemia. Separate administration from other oral medications (such as tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, and iron supplements) by at least 2 hours, as calcium and alginates may impair their absorption. Store in a dry place. Keep out of reach of children.
