Intrasite Gel 25g is an advanced amorphous hydrogel dressing engineered to gently rehydrate necrotic tissue, promote autolytic debridement, absorb excess exudate, and maintain an optimal moist environment for rapid wound healing.

1

Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • Intrasite Gel ($25\text{g}$ Applipak dispenser) provides targeted moisture-balancing action to promote natural wound bed preparation and rapid tissue repair:
  • Autolytic Debridement & Tissue Rehydration: Rehydrates dry, devitalized, or necrotic tissue and eschar by donating moisture. This softens dead tissue and enables the body's natural proteolytic enzymes to break down non-viable material safely and painlessly.
  • Exudate Absorption & Desiccation Prevention: Formulated with a cross-linked carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) polymer matrix combined with propylene glycol that absorbs excess fluid and cellular debris from sloughy wounds without drying out healthy granulation tissue.
  • Moist Wound Environment & Non-Adherent Interface: Maintains a physiologically balanced, moist microenvironment that accelerates epithelial cell migration while preventing the dressing from adhering to the delicate wound bed, ensuring painless and trauma-free dressing changes.

Clinical Indications & Uses

  • Intrasite Gel 25g is indicated for:
  • Debridement and management of shallow and deep open wounds containing dead tissue, black eschar, or yellow slough
  • Treatment of chronic full- and partial-thickness lesions including pressure injuries (bedsores), diabetic foot ulcers, and venous or arterial leg ulcers
  • Care of superficial partial-thickness burns, radiation skin damage, post-operative surgical incisions, skin tears, and excoriations

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

  • Cleanse the wound bed thoroughly with sterile normal saline or an appropriate wound cleanser. Direct the nozzle of the $25\text{g}$ dispenser over the wound and gently apply gel to a minimum depth of $5\text{mm}$. Cover with an appropriate secondary dressing (e.g., film dressing, foam, or gauze).

Recommended Dosage:

  • Reapply during dressing changes every 1 to 3 days depending on wound exudate levels and the rate of tissue debridement.

Precautions & Warnings:

  • For external topical wound care only. Contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to propylene glycol or any components of the gel. Select secondary dressings carefully to match exudate volume and prevent maceration of surrounding healthy skin. Discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional if signs of clinical wound infection (increased pain, purulent discharge, swelling, redness) develop. Single-patient use; discard any unused gel remaining in the dispenser. Store below $25^\circ\text{C}$ in a cool, dry place. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
