Orajel Soothing Teething Gel 10g (Sugar Free) is a gentle, fast-acting topical gel designed to calm sore gums, relieve teething discomfort, and soothe infant irritability during primary tooth eruption without damaging delicate tooth enamel.

1

Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • Orajel Soothing Teething Gel ($10\text{g}$ tube, sugar-free formulation) provides localized relief for tender, inflamed gingival tissues during infant primary dentition:
  • Targeted Mucosal Calming & Cooling: Delivers an immediate soothing and mild cooling sensation directly to irritated gingival tissue, reducing localized discomfort caused by erupting deciduous teeth.
  • Non-Cariogenic Protective Barrier (Sugar-Free): Specially formulated without sucrose, glucose, or artificial sweeteners that promote bacterial plaque formation, safeguarding emerging primary tooth enamel from early childhood dental caries.
  • Gingival Pressure Relief: Massaging the smooth gel onto affected gum mucosa helps alleviate local tissue pressure, reducing the urge to bite and calming infant fussiness and sleep disruption.

Clinical Indications & Uses

  • Orajel Soothing Teething Gel 10g (Sugar Free) is indicated for:
  • Rapid symptomatic relief of sore, swollen, or tender gums in infants and toddlers undergoing active teething
  • Reducing fretfulness, crying, and oral distress associated with primary tooth eruption
  • Providing safe, non-cariogenic topical oral care for developing infant teeth and gums

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

  • Wash hands thoroughly before use. Apply a small, pea-sized amount (approx. $0.25\text{g}$) of gel onto a clean fingertip or soft cotton applicator, and gently massage onto the tender areas of the infant's gums.

Recommended Dosage:

  • Infants 3 months and older: Apply up to 3 to 4 times daily, preferably after feedings and at bedtime, or as recommended by a pediatrician or pediatric dentist.

Precautions & Warnings:

  • For topical oral mucosal application in infants only. Do not use benzocaine-containing products in children under 2 years of age due to the risk of methemoglobinemia; ensure age-appropriate, benzocaine-free pediatric formulations are selected. Do not exceed the maximum recommended daily frequency. Discontinue use and consult a physician if fever, facial swelling, excessive drooling with severe vomiting, or rash develops. Store below $25^\circ\text{C}$ in a cool, dry place. Keep out of reach of children.
