Viscid Gel 200ml combines a topical mucosal anesthetic (Oxetacaine) with acid-neutralizing antacids to rapidly numb severe stomach pain, neutralize excess gastric acid, and soothe epigastric burning caused by gastritis, ulcers, or reflux.

Overview & Mechanism of Action

  • Viscid Gel ($200\text{ml}$ oral suspension formulated with a local anesthetic and balanced antacid agents) provides targeted dual-action pain relief and acid suppression across the upper gastrointestinal tract:
  • Topical Mucosal Anesthesia (Oxetacaine): Functions as a potent topical anesthetic that remains unionized and active even in low gastric $\text{pH}$ environments. It directly numbs exposed nerve endings within inflamed esophageal and gastric mucosa, delivering rapid relief from sharp burning pain.
  • Buffered Gastric Acid Neutralization: Aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide react synergistically with excess gastric hydrochloric acid ($\text{HCl}$), elevating stomach $\text{pH}$ to reduce pepsin activity and mitigate mucosal erosion.
  • Protective Coating & Viscous Barrier: Forms a smooth, protective film over irritated gastric mucosa and peptic ulcer beds, shielding damaged tissue from further digestive acid and bile contact.

Clinical Indications & Uses

  • Viscid Gel 200ml is indicated for:
  • Rapid symptomatic relief of severe burning epigastric pain associated with acute or chronic gastritis, peptic ulcers, and duodenal lesions
  • Management of painful gastroesophageal reflux disease ($\text{GERD}$), hiatus hernia irritation, and heartburn unresponsive to standard antacids alone
  • Relief of esophageal mucosal inflammation and hyperacidity discomfort

Usage Guidance & Safety Precautions

Administration:

  • Shake the bottle thoroughly prior to use. Take orally 15 to 30 minutes before meals and at bedtime, or upon onset of severe pain. Avoid drinking fluids immediately after administration to ensure optimal coating of the gastric mucosa by the anesthetic agent.

Recommended Dosage:

  • Adults: Take $5\text{ml}$ to $10\text{ml}$ (1 to 2 teaspoons) up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a healthcare provider.

Precautions & Warnings:

  • For oral administration only. Do not exceed the recommended dose; long-term continuous use of oxetacaine-containing gels is not recommended. Contraindicated in patients with severe renal failure or known hypersensitivity to local anesthetics. Antacids may decrease the intestinal absorption of concomitantly administered oral medications (e.g., fluoroquinolones, iron supplements, tetracyclines); separate doses by at least 2 hours. Store below $25^\circ\text{C}$ in a cool, dry place protected from light and heat. Keep out of reach of children.
